Edge of the Sublime

I know I need to post work images…..ah! Getting there…

The big news at the moment is the opening for Jamie Bennett’s retrospective at the SDMA.

Edge of the Sublime:
Enamels by Jamie Bennett
September 27 & November 16
Alice and Horace Chandler & North Galleries

Edge of the Sublime represents the first-ever retrospective of works by one of the most important enamelists working today. This exhibition explores the artist’s creative use and development of a variety of enameling and metalworking techniques to produce highly color-saturated imagery on signature brooches, necklaces and pendants. Curated by Jeannine Falino, former Carolyn and Peter Lynch Curator of Decorative Arts, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Edge of the Sublime debuted at Fuller Craft Museum in Massachusetts before traveling to the SDMA and museums nationwide through 2010.

Opening reception: Friday, September 26, 5:00-8:00pm

It will be a great time! Lots of people will be coming through the studios over the weekend as well. Jamie will be giving an artist’s lecture Thursday, October 16, 7:00 pm , and then will sit on a panel in November.

If you don’t know Jamie, who is currently my teaching partner for Basic Metals, here is a video of him in action from this past SOFA.

In other news, I just found out that I got 2 pieces into the Craft USA:National Craft Triennial at the Silvermine Guild Arts Center in CT. I’m really excited!!
